New Zealand Working Holiday Visa

The New Zealand Working Holiday Visa Scheme gives young people aged between 18 and 30 the opportunity to travel to New Zealand and undertake employment during their travels. This scheme allows visa holders to supplement their stay and income with casual work, which must be incidental and to the conditions stipulated on the visa for a total of 12 months (23 months if you are from the UK).

To be eligible to participate applicants must be a citizen of a country which has a working holiday agreement with NZ (which, at present, totals 55 countries, including Australia); and must meet basic age, health and character requirements. Also, it is a condition that he/she has not qualified under the Working Holiday Visa Scheme before.

Short-term work opportunities for working holidaymakers in NZ include agriculture, horticulture and viticulture (grape-growing). Working holidaymakers who are able to show they have worked in the horticulture or viticulture industries for at least three months could be eligible to obtain an extra three month stay in New Zealand via the Working Holidaymaker Extension Permit.
